There are a total of 22 airports throughout Vietnam, of which only 15 are used for civil transport. Tourists will be most interested in the international airport, where they can fly other countries. These airports are the three largest, one in the north of Hanoi, another one in central Da Nang and the other in the south of the country Ho Chi Minh City.

Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport (HAN) is the second largest and most famous in Vietnam. It is approximately 30 km away from the center of Hanoi. The airport is used for domestic and international flights, which are the gateway to the country. There are two terminals, one for domestic and one for international flights. There is a regular bus service between the terminals every 10-15 minutes. As immigration checks must be carried out before moving between terminals, the recommended transfer time is at least 90 minutes.

Ho Chi Minh City Airport (SGN) is located in a densely populated area 8 km from the city center. The airport is accessible by taxi or bus lines, which run almost every 15 minutes.

Da Nang Airport (DAD) is the third largest in Vietnam. The city lies in the middle of the country and is used mainly for domestic flights, as the city’s surroundings are a popular beach destination. The airport is easily reached on foot, as it is approximately 2 km from the city center.

Phu Quoc Airport (PQC) is located in the southern part of the island with the same name. The airport is exempt from the visa requirement.

Nha Trang Cam Ranh Airport (CXR) is located 40km from the popular southern destination Nha Trang. The airport can be reached by taxi or bus, which runs every half an hour.

Con Dao Airport (VCS) is located on Con Son Island and operates low cost flights.

Hue Phu Bai Airport (HUI) is located in the south of the former capital Hue. It is now the capital of central Vietnam.

Da Lat Lien Khuong International Airport (DLI) is the fourth largest in central Vietnam and is located about 30 km to the south of Da Lat. It is accessible by taxi or shuttle bus.

Haiphong Cat Bi International Airport (HPH) is located near Hai Phong. It handles mostly domestic flights.

Vinh International Airport (VII) is located in the north of the country. It accommodates more than 2 million passengers every year.

Qui Nhon Phu Cat Airport (UIH) is located 30 km to the northwest of Qui Nhon in central Vietnam and is the base of the Vietnamese airlines, Bamboo Airways.
