The northernmost of the Canary Islands is Lanzarote, it is a popular destination for tourists mainly due to the year-round pleasant climate. In addition to beautiful beaches and interesting architecture Lanzarote also offers plenty of opportunities for hiking or cycling.

The island of Tenerife with its 3715 m high Teide volcano and the much more famous Gran Canaria with its large holiday complexes are ideal for a great holiday in these cold months. Lanzarote is different, however, it stands out above all the Canary Islands by its peculiar beauty of volcanic landscape playing almost all dark tones. For many of you it will be love at first sight! The most beautiful scenery is usually located in not easily accessible places.

The most beautiful, but also the most demanding hiking trip, perhaps a trek, requires better physical condition, but the unique scenery will richly make up for all the ravages of the route, the Camino de Guatifay trail is unparalleled on the island.

The wild and windy northwest coast of Lanzarote is dominated by the incredible 500 meters high Famar cliffs. The starting point of the trek is at their southern foot at the holiday village of Famara.

The relatively narrow path is disturbed in places by natural influences, the path will be pleasant by the noise and smell of the ocean below.

The coastal trail lining the edge of Timanfaya National Park is about 20 km southwest of Famara. Also head to the center of the park for an organized tour, or to the Ruta del Litoral or Coastal Trail for more privacy.

The approximately 11 km long route along the west coast leads through endless lava fields. The landscape is beautiful, with only huge areas of variegated lava and the wild ocean on the other side.

The starting point at Madera Beach can be reached via the unmarked road from Tinajo. Walking in one direction to the deserted Playa del Paso beach takes less than three hours of walking, from there you can walk to El Golfo in about an hour. Do not forget about good sunscreen and good shoes!

This is just a hint of what you can experience here, on this beautiful island you will find many other hiking tours that will take you to unprecedented places, where you will see your eyes from the breathtaking splendor of this landscape.
