What to do after landing in Sri Lanka
After picking up your luggage, we recommend that you exchange money at the airport (see the topic https://www.flymeto.com/blog/en/sri-lanka/#currency-in-sri-lanka) and buy a one-time sim card. There is not very good wifi on the island and you usually have to stand right next to the modem to at least send a photo to your family or friends. If you stay in a resort or hotel, they will offer you the option of airport picking-up. You will see several dozen drivers sitting right behind the exchange offices. If you want to travel on your own, it depends on where you are going. For shorter distances you pays to tuk tuk (local form of passenger transport for two), but if you go somewhere further, use train or bus. Alternatively, if you don’t mind paying extra, you can rent a car with a driver which is certainly the most convenient option and maybe you will get an explanation along the way.
